The CII National Conference on “Skill Development in Logistics Sectors”
The confederation of Indian industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the growth of industry in India, partnering industry and government alike through advisory and consultative process.
As a part of achieving the above goals, CII conducts conferences, seminars and several other activities throughout the country on a regular basis. One such event was the one day National Conference organized by them at New Delhi’s premier hotel, “Hotel Le Meridian on “Skill Development in Logistics Sectors”.
The conference was preceded by Mr. R Dinesh, JMD, TVS Sons by delivering his welcome and theme address and the other delegates shared their views on “skill gap” between the various sectors and how the industry and educational institutions will interface in order to reduce the mismatch between the demand and supply of skill in logistics sectors. This sector is only 1% organized as compared to retail sector which is about 4-5% organized but still the employability of this sector is high. The fundamental themes of the conference was to spread growth in Logistics sectors and building skills for meeting emerging economics compulsion, and fostering a climate of good governance. In line with this CII is placing increased focus on affirmative actions for skills development in logistic sectors.
Sriram Group of Institutions has been interfacing with CII on various levels, primarily focusing as to how education in India can be a catalyst to the national productivity through conventional and innovative teaching and training methodologies it imparts to hundreds of students who throng for admission.
A battery of our students and academicians participated in the Conference and several participants from the Industry expressed their happiness when they learned that our college is a CII Authorised Learner Facilitation Centre where the students studying in our college as well as the students studying in the nearby colleges and working professionals get a unique opportunity to study for a variety of Certificates, Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma courses conducted by CII on online mode.
For the participants who attended the Conference, it has indeed been a rejuvenating experience side by side amassing a wealth of information and knowledge.
